Banu Ormeci

Biography

Prof. Banu Örmeci completed her M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Duke University (North Carolina, USA) and joined Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada) in 2005. She is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Wastewater and Public Health Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering,and is the recipient of several awards including the Ontario EarlyResearcher Award, Carleton University Research Achievement Award, CartyResearch Fellowship, and Carleton University Studentsù Association Teaching Excellence Award. Her research interests include water and waste water disinfection, fate and survival of microorganisms through treatment processes, removal of chemical contaminants from water, and sludge treatment processes. She is involved in innovative research projects, and focuses on finding solutions to real world problems.
