GYA member Meghnath Dhimal attended the 9th World Health Summit on “Science – Innovation – Policies” from 15-17 October 2017 in Berlin, Germany. At the summit, world health issues were discussed, including non-communicable diseases, neglected tropical diseases, global health research and governance issues, such as funding. This year, the summit attracted 2000 participants from 100 nations, making it a prominent platform for global young leaders, seniors scientists, private sector representatives, policymakers and funding bodies to meet and discuss ways to improve global health.
As a winner of the New Voices in Global Health Programme competition, Meghnath presented a poster entitled ‘Climate change and global health security: Developing climate resilient health system in Nepal’ and also actively participated in a session on global health, neglected tropical diseases and emerging infectious diseases. Meghnath is also active in the GYA’s ‘Global Health’ Working Group.
