GYA co-leads of the At-Risk Scholars Initiative, Saja Al Zoubi (Dalhousie University, Canada) and Nesrin Alrefaai (London School of Economics and Political Science, UK) advised and contributed to a recent workshop held by the UK Young Academy for at-risk scholars in the UK.
The two-day workshop aimed to equip academics who are new to the UK research landscape with essential skills to navigate their careers. With speakers from across the UK and internationally, including members of the Young Academy of Scotland, the Royal Irish Academy, and the Global Young Academy, the workshop covered insights into career progression, funding, and key aspects of academic life in the UK.
The GYA has run similar workshops since 2019, and is glad to collaborate with the UKYA in this and similar initiatives.
