At the end of August 2022, after two years delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 7th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences took place, bringing together more 250 young economists from all over the world, eager to meet almost 20 Nobel Prize laureates in economics.
The GYA is one of the academic partners of the Lindau Laureate Meetings and nominated young scientist Bartosz Bartkowski, an environmental economist at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig, Germany.
“The extremely well-organized conference was a great opportunity to see that Nobel laureates are “normal”, humble and down-to-earth people, to engage with them and all the young economists working on a fascinatingly broad range of topics. The mix of laureate lectures, panel discussions, young scientist sessions and more informal elements facilitated the exchange and provided ample opportunity to get inspired. Even though my “favourite” laureates (Amartya Sen, the late Elinor Ostrom) could not attend, it still was an enriching experience.”
