News of the Global Young Academy

The GYA is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Heidi Wedel as the first Managing Director. Dr. Wedel has tremendous experience managing portfolios of international projects aimed at building bridges between Europe and the developing world. In her previous position, Dr. Wedel served as Section Head at the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and was in charge of a number of programs, including Public Policy and Good Governance and Higher Education Dialog with the Islamic World as well as programs with the Middle East and North Africa. In this position she also supported the development of a network of future political leaders from developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Dr. Wedel will help the GYA advance and meet its goal of providing “the voice for young scientists around the world.”
