GYA members and alumni, as well as early-career researchers all over the world, are being invited to respond to a survey on authorship Authors Without Borders (qualtrics.com). The survey is conducted with the support of a grant from the US National Science Foundation, and in coordination with Sigma Xi, the scientific research honor society. The researchers aim for their study to provide more of an empirical basis for understanding challenges in authorship determinations in international collaborative relationships.
The goal of their project is to address and decrease confusion, misunderstanding and disagreements about authorship in order to promote, encourage and facilitate international collaboration. Specifically, the accompanying survey is designed to elicit, from those who can bring an international perspective to the discussion, a sense of the issues that arise when authorship reflects a multi-disciplinary, multi-national perspective. As such, they are particularly interested in hearing from non-US based academics/researchers in the fields of science and engineering, very broadly defined, and from early-career researchers.
Please feel free to share the survey with your own networks.
