Dr. Robert Lepenies is Professor for Pluralist and Heterodox Economics at Karlshochschule International University. Recent research interests include: science-policy interfaces, (indicator) politics of the Sustainable Development Goals, ethics of economics, multidimensional poverty, the legitimacy of using behavioral instruments in policy (“nudging”), and questions relating to the role of scientists in society.

Reviewer for the 2019 Global Sustainable Development Report and the JRC Enlightenment 2.0 report. Member of the IAP Science for Poverty Eradication Committee. He was a research scientist at the UFZ in the department of environmental politics where he is still a guest scientist.
